Caring For Your Silk Lingerie
To make the best of your purchase, we recommend that you follow the washing instructions on your individual garment. Most silk items can either be hand washed, or you can have them cleaned by a specialist dry cleaner, according to the instructions. Do not use bleach or products that contain bleach on your silk garments.
In the case of hand washable items, wash them gently in cool or tepid water using a mild or specially formulated detergent. Rinse thoroughly in cool water. Do not wring or twist the garment. Gently press out excess water in a clean, dry, colourfast towel. Smooth and straighten the seams of the garment. Lay it flat to air dry, away from direct sunlight to avoid fading.
To iron, we suggest that you use an all cotton ironing board cover. Iron the garment inside out, on a low temperature, using a press cloth. Either iron the garment while it is still slightly damp, on a low to medium dry setting (refer to label for recommended temperature details), or use a low to moderate steam setting if the fabric is completely dry.
Some silks, especially delicate fabrics such as chiffons and georgettes, may benefit from dry cleaning, as opposed to washing. Items made from these fabrics may appear to shrink slightly when hand washed. If hand washing is recommended on the care label, to return the garment to its original size and shape, after washing and thoroughly rinsing the item, iron the garment while it is still slightly damp, on a low to medium dry setting (refer to label for recommended temperature details), stretching the fabric gently as you iron it. Repeat as needed, taking care to do so gently, and to avoid ironing any elastics or trimmings.
We suggest that you wash all under wired lingerie by hand. For machine washable lingerie pieces, we would suggest that you use a lingerie wash bag (or a suitably coloured cotton pillow case) on a gentle cycle, using a mild detergent. To avoid bobbling, turn garments inside out when washing them by machine. After washing, allow your lingerie to dry naturally.
Do not wear light coloured lingerie under dark clothes or denim, as this can dull and dye delicate fabrics instantly. Irregularities and variations in the weave of silk fabrics are characteristic and should not be considered to be defects.
Baby Grand do not refund or exchange machine washed items. We will only accept returned garments subject to compliance with their specific care instructions.
